The beneficial ownership guides are intended to serve as a guide for public authorities or other interested parties looking to find information on an entity incorporated under the laws of the country concerned. They are intended to provide the basic information to assist what steps to take to ascertain the identity of the beneficial owner and other related parties.
Beneficial owner refers to the natural person(s) who ultimately owns or controls a customer and/or the natural person on whose behalf a transaction is being conducted. It also includes those persons who exercise ultimate effective control over a legal person or arrangement.
These guides were created as part of the Global Forum for Asset Recovery (December 2017), the G-20 Anti-Corruption Working Group (October 2016), or the Third Arab Forum on Asset Recovery (November 2014).
